Stakeholder Identification & Evaluations
A migration of this scope affects more people than most organizations initially anticipate, and understanding who has a stake in the outcome is itself an important early step. This section is organized in two parts.
The Quick Guide groups stakeholders into broad categories (End Users, Champions, Leadership Stakeholders, Security/Compliance, and Budget/Finance) and is a good starting point for organizations early in the conversation and/or smaller org structures.
The Comprehensive Guide that follows breaks those categories into more specific personas, organized by whether they are internal or external to the organization.
Both guides use the same three-part structure: Goals, Challenges, and Questions to Ask. The goals and challenges are intended to help you understand each stakeholder’s perspective before you engage them. The questions serve a dual purpose: they are a guide for the nonprofit’s project lead to make sure each stakeholder’s needs and concerns are being heard, and they are a reference for whoever is doing the planning or technical work to ensure nothing important gets missed.
