Visual Studio Code (VS Code) is a text editor program created by Microsoft with a robust extension system. Extensions provided added functionality for evaluating text as code. Salesforce has created robust extensions for VS Code that makes it ideal for creating metadata and code for the Salesforce Platform.

As VS Code is a free program and Salesforce has invested much time in making extensions for it VS Code is an ideal, low barrier, staple for the Open Source Commons.

Installation and Setup

  1. Download and Install Visual Studio Code for the operating system of your choice.
