WOW, another truly global virtual Sprint!

We were thrilled to gather our Nonprofit and Education community virtually for two days of brainstorming, creating impactful solutions, and fun networking to build community solutions for common challenges affecting Nonprofits and Schools.

Our Global Reach: Connecting Across Continents

A remarkable 122 attendees joined us virtually, representing a diverse group of Nonprofits, schools, Partners, and employees from across the globe. From India to Canada, to Germany and New Zealand, the enthusiasm and commitment were truly global, with participants hailing from 23 different countries - which I think is a new record! And that’s exactly what these Virtual Sprints are about - bringing the community together, regardless of country or timezone - anyone can contribute!

As one virtual sprinter perfectly put it, “What I also love about the Nonprofit Community team is that these Sprints happen across the globe, both in person and virtually. You don’t have to be an expert in everything. You just need to be willing to share what you know, learn from others, and contribute.” These virtual Sprints began during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown when travel wasn’t possible. Once we discovered how much broader our reach could be, we made it a priority to host at least two virtual Sprints annually, ensuring that those who cannot travel or attend in-person events can still participate and contribute to our community.

51% of attendees were first-time sprinters, with returning leaders stepping up to mentor newcomers and create the collaborative, welcoming atmosphere that defines our community. We even had a newcomer lead a project, which is truly exceptional (shoutout to Duncan Chrystal for diving in headfirst and absolutely crushing it!!!).

To everyone who joined: a wholehearted THANK YOU for carving out time during what we know is an already busy time of year. Your willingness to share your skills, insights, and energy made this event truly exceptional. We know many of you were juggling full workdays, parenting, and countless other commitments to be here - which makes your contribution even more meaningful. We appreciate the time you give to creating resources that better the entire community… that’s what makes these events so special!

A special visit from our Nonprofit Product Team!

Thank you to the Nonprofit Product Team who joined us over lunch for a “Meet the Maker” session to share about your team, your focus for the rest of the year, the upcoming product roadmap, and answered questions during our Q&A! Our community always asks for updates about what’s coming with the product, so it was great to get these updates from your team right before everyone dove into projects, helping to level set on what Salesforce’s plan is for the year. You all showed up in full force and really thank you for your time!

After morning introductions and the Nonprofit Roadmap Q&A, it was time to get to work.

1. Agentforce Nonprofit Best Practices Asset Hub

This project is actively developing practical guidance to help nonprofits adopt and get the most out of Agentforce Nonprofit, building on the community-led success of NPSP best practices resources. At this Sprint, multiple sub-groups participated - Main (including Mailing Lists, Compliant Data Sharing, Form Framework) as well as Program Management Reporting, Migration and Grantmaking, each moving beyond discovery and into building real, published resources that practitioners can use today.

Work performed at this sprint:

1.1 Main group sub-groups:

  • 1.1.1 Mailing Lists (using DPE and Data Cloud)
    • Reviewed the plan for how to tackle creating mailing lists using DPE and Data Cloud.
    • Constructed the DPE definition for the Household Mailing List.
    • Next steps: Map the DPE definition to a Salesforce Report.
  • 1.1.2 Compliant Data Sharing
    • Created a PowerPoint on the Statement of Work process and a companion decision-tree guide for when to use Compliant Data Sharing (CDS) in NPC, covering setup, use cases, and non-CDS alternatives.
    • Next steps: Hand off the document for further expansion by others who’ve used CDS for similar use cases.
  • 1.1.3 Main - Form Framework
    • Started developing guidance for setting up the form framework and began building flows for application render methods (not yet finished).
    • Next step: No immediate next steps; revisit once new permissions and portal templates release in October, possibly at a future sprint or folded into Grantmaking/Programs work.

1.2 Program Management Reporting Sub-group

  • Reviewed and approved 18 reports for packaging.
  • Moved 3 reports and a report type into a new mini-package focused on Program Cohorts.

Next Steps:

  • Finish documentation page/download instructions, and package/test both the main and Program Cohorts mini-package.

1.3 Migration Sub-group

  • Created a topic outline for a draft rubric for organizations to evaluate their NPSP org.
  • Produced an enhanced draft rubric, with both narrative and workbook components, that stays flexible while providing a foundation of considerations for migrating from NPSP to AFNP.

Next Steps:

  • Review the enhanced draft rubric further before making it publicly available.

1.4 Grantmaking Sub-group

  • Dug into documentation for using the application form framework for program intake on Experience Cloud (not grantmaking).
  • Identified gaps in documentation and lack of guidance for using the form framework outside of grantmaking.
  • Started documenting the steps and building a downloadable sample template for internal staff use.

Next Steps:

  • Figure out how to put the Grantmaking template on an Experience site and continue writing documentation.

2. AI for Nonprofits

AI for Nonprofits explores AI and agentic tooling for nonprofits, spanning three subgroups this sprint: AI for Nonprofits-Clarity, AI for Nonprofits-Clarity+NPSP, and AI for Nonprofits-Headless 360.

Work performed at this sprint:

2.1 Clarity Sub-group

  • Got Clarity working for Donor Activity Summary in Slack.
  • Built the Donor Biographical Summary: a Donor Biographical Data subagent, 2 custom actions, and a custom prompt template.
  • Began mapping the next sub-agent to build.

Next Steps:

  • Continue mapping and building out the next sub-agent.

2.2 Clarity+NPSP (also referred to as Clarity from NPC to NPSP) Sub-group

  • Created documentation on how to build a Clarity agent in a “regular” Salesforce org.
  • Wrote documentation and built the beginnings of Clarity for NPSP, translated from Clarity NPC (name, contact info, household/relationship data, campaign membership, donation stats, and Activity History fields).
  • Created a sandbox version of the agent in Data Cloud (7-day trial), which still needs to be moved somewhere work can continue.

Next Steps:

  • Move the Data Cloud sandbox agent (currently on a 7-day trial) somewhere work can continue, and finish building out Clarity for NPSP.

2.3 Headless 360 Sub-group

  • Completed the Salesforce-Claude config video and set up an ECA connected to Claude’s SObject Read MCP.
  • Built two Claude skills: donor_bio and quick_answers, and enabled the MCP server to generate test data/scenarios.
  • Connected Claude to Slack and confirmed skills working through the Claude app.

Next Steps:

  • Continue building and removing hurdles encountered for NPSP; move the Data Cloud sandbox agent somewhere work can continue, and add notes from the sandbox.

  • Continue building and documenting for NPSP; start building out the translated Biographical Data fields next.

  • Additional Slack testing.
  • Roadmap items to explore additional tools (Gemini, ChatGPT, Copilot, Teams).

Backlog (all subgroups):

  • Document how to upload skills video/documentation.
  • Explore Gemini, ChatGPT, and Teams/Copilot integrations with Salesforce.
  • Explore Slack+Claude+SF and other SF MCP/third-party MCP connections.

3. Declarative Lookup Rollup Summaries (DLRS)

Declarative Lookup Rollup Summaries (DLRS) is a widely used open source tool for building rollup summaries declaratively. The team is expanding the documentation site and cookbook with new recipes and content.

Work performed at this sprint:

  • Oriented people to the documentation site and cookbook, then finalized a new, more flexible page design for the cookbook.
  • Brainstormed and reviewed styling and structure options for recipes and tagging.
  • Reviewed and published updates to existing recipes for consistency and correctness.
  • Published new recipes, including one for sustaining members.

Next Steps:

  • Deploy the new structure and design changes.
  • Check out the current Cookbook!

4. Education Cloud Trailblazers

Modernizing Education Cloud’s relationship management, replacing legacy automation with more flexible, GIT-tracked flows for person-to-organization relationships.

Work performed at this sprint:

  • Removed automation that creates a Person Employment record as part of the screen flow relationship creation flows, then updated all issues identified after that change.
  • Identified fields to exclude from GIT and built out a new Contact Account Relationship - After Save - Sync w/Person Employment flow.
  • Created a user guide and admin guide, and updated the GIT repository.
  • Added testers to a scratch org and completed testing there.

Next Steps:

  • Update the permission set for users.
  • Update the documentation.
  • Package it up.
  • Discuss creating a page to share out their resources, similar to how the Nonprofit Asset Hub does.

5. Membership Essentials

Membership Essentials is a package for managing nonprofit memberships in Salesforce, with an MVP feature set currently being built out.

Work performed at this sprint:

  • Merged the latest Metecho epic with the main branch on GitHub, then decided on a way forward without Metecho.
  • Made progress on fixing flow issues and continued package testing.
  • Built basic membership reports and identified data model items needing discussion before security review.
  • Continued documenting changes and additions to the package.

Next Steps:

  • Pull all package changes into the main GitHub branch.
  • Update package documentation to current state and update to-dos for security review.
  • Continue cleaning up GitHub and Google Drive documentation.

6. Nonprofit Salesforce How-To Videos

The team creates how-to videos to help the Nonprofit community learn Salesforce features and best practices.

Work performed at this sprint:

  • Brainstormed on tools and methods to streamline video production, then reviewed the project charter.
  • Created a platform-agnostic script-to-video converter, letting a script writer generate a test video with voiceover, titles, screenshot placeholders, and credits automatically.

Next Steps:

  • Compile notes.
  • Have someone else test the new script-to-video converter.

7. NPSP Data Kit for Data Cloud

Building a Data Cloud data kit for NPSP, mapping core NPSP contact and fundraising data to Data Cloud data model objects (DMOs).

Work performed at this sprint:

  • Reduced fear-of-the-unknown around Data 360 for the team.
  • Decided on baseline use cases: core contact data model and fundraising objects.
  • Mapped Contact Data Stream to Individual object, and Campaign Stream to Campaign object.

Next Steps:

  • Normalize address data transforms, then map to Contact Point Email, Phone, and Address objects.
  • Map the recurring donation and Opportunity data streams (mapping TBD).
  • Create relationships between the DMO objects and decide on donation mapping.
  • Document all of the above in prep for the kit.

8. NPSP Flow Replacements

NPSP Flow Replacements (also referred to as NPSP Workflows) redesigns legacy NPSP Contact and Opportunity workflows into modern, packaged flows.

Work performed at this sprint:

  • Redesigned the 4 NPSP Contact and Opportunity workflows into flows.
  • Cleaned up GitHub documentation.
  • Created an open package for the 4 flows (not done, but almost).

Next Steps:

  • Meet to test the package.
  • See the deployment page for ongoing details.

9. Salesforce Indicators

Salesforce Indicators is a tool that gives admins and users visual cues and context directly in Salesforce; the team is onboarding new contributors and improving styling and documentation.

Work performed at this sprint:

  • Onboarded the admin/user and dev teams to the tool, and set up VS Code for developers.
  • Reviewed the new styles, popover behavior, and The Key component’s structure/usability.
  • Refactored the documentation site to support new features and created AI-generated Getting Started steps.
  • Built a Claude Skill to guide users through the Indicators creation process.

Next Steps:

  • Fix remaining bugs ahead of release.
  • Finish documentation for release.
  • Release the new features and blog about them.

10. Summit Events App (SEA)

The Summit Events App (SEA) is a community-built event registration and management solution.

Work performed at this sprint:

  • Help text/documentation: reviewed field descriptions and help text across all objects/fields, now about 30% through updating everything in a spreadsheet.
  • Pull requests: got CCI set up and started testing community PRs; reaching out to a contributor to update an outdated branch so they get proper credit.
  • LWC registration: resolved 18 of 44 documented issues moving from VF to LWC registration, with both experiences able to run simultaneously during a transition (no data migration needed).

Next Steps:

  • Complete and review help text updates for alignment, then formally update the package.
  • Continue PR testing and work toward migrating to a first beta for testing.

Unsubscribe Link is an open source tool that lets nonprofits add opt-out/unsubscribe capability to Salesforce record pages.

Work performed at this sprint:

  • Discovered an error with the existing site and worked through possible fixes; updated the packaging file.
  • Updated the wiki, including the home page, FAQ/Troubleshooting, and installation instructions.
  • Made flow updates to add error handling and remove a hard-coded email.
  • Opened pull requests for limiting unsubscribe records and the app homepage.

Next Steps:

  • Document the error and add a lightning record page note to the wiki FAQ.
  • Update installation instructions to reflect the fix and adding opt-out to record pages.
  • Continue working through the remaining task list (small but mighty team, still lots to do).
